When we bought our house, there was a rather crude barbecue pit on the lower side of the house. It had a roof over it and we never really used it. Over time, we removed the roof as it had a tendency to hold the smoke inside and replaced the roof with a pergola. There was also a campfire spot in the yard below the barbecue pit. Later on we added a deck beside the barbecue grill and built a rather large fire pit area with benches around it and pea gravel around the fire pit. We later added stone facing to the barbecue pit and added a motor so so we could have more options for barbecuing.
