We have gone to the beach for annual vacations for well over 30 years. We love collecting seashells from our visits and decided to take a regular Queen Anne style coffee table that we bought at a flea market and convert it into a coffee table to display our treasures. We Are very pleased with the end results and allows us to display them for ourselves to remind us us of the blessing of those beach vacations and to share with those who come to visit us at our home.
This is the Queen Anne style coffee table that we started with.
We built a basic frame that fit over the edge of the existing coffee table so that the top piece woiuld not be able to slide off.
The basic frame is built and now just needs to be stained to the proper color.
The top section was moved to the garage so that staining was able to be applied.
Getting the right color stain took some experimenting with some of the extra scraps of wood as that was the only way to assure a proper match.
The top piece was moved back into the living room and to the top of the table.
We bought handles that attached to the glass by suction to move the glass on and off the table.
The sand is added and now it is time to start adding shells.
