Generator

Living on the mountaintop near Jumonville, power outages are things for which you just need to be prepared. Our biggest concern with power outages was not losing food that was in our two freezers as well as keeping the sump pump running. If it rains hard, we get water that com es in our utility room. We have a sump pump in there that if not running could cause a flood in the basemen t. The reality is the power is likely to go out during a bad storm which could very well include heavy rain. We installed the generator in 201`8 and had to use it for the first time in the winter of 2022. We had to use it twice in about a two week time period. The system works great! It is run to separate wiring inside the house which includes multiple lights in the basement area (where our wood stove is located) as well as separate outlets bu our freezers and the sump pump along with some extra outlets. We painted the extra outlets orange so it is easy to know what is part of the generator system. The generator gets moved to the patio side of the house where it is then plugged in. to the special outlet which connects to the inside wiring. The generator is dual fuel so it uses both gasoline and propane, therefore, I connected the outlet near the 100 gallon propane tank.
